Making Democracy Work

2017Annual Meeting

Dr. Terry Peterson Spoke at the 2017 Annual Meeting

Public schools graduate 90% of future workers and citizens, according to Dr. Terry Peterson, a national expert. He also said that the research on effectiveness is clear; we know what to do to achieve good schools. The power to implement proven approaches rests largely with local school boards. It is therefore critical to stay informed about the condition of local schools, to vote in school board elections, and to encourage supporters of public education to consider serving on them. (See Dr. Peterson's biography) and a summary of his talk

Dr. Peterson's talk was the kickoff of a two-year campaign emphasizing the importance of local school boards -- candidacy, service, and elections -- in the three counties this League serves, Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester.
