Please join the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area for the screening of an award winning film on sex education and meet the woman whose story is told in this film.

Shelby Knox, who as a teenager became nationally known for her activism on behalf of comprehensive sex education, is our special guest and will speak following the film. In the years since the film won acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, Ms. Knox has been mentored by Gloria Steinem, testified before Congress and many other legislative and civic groups, and become Director of Women's Rights Organizing at Change.org which is based in New York City.

South Carolina has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the United States. Addressing this issue, the Charleston Area League supports comprehensive sex education for teens. With its partners the League is working to raise awareness of the importance and availability of medically accurate information about reproduction and sexually transmitted diseases.
