LWV Launches Candidate Forums

LWV of the Charleston Area Announces Candidates Forums for Mt. Pleasant Election

The League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area is launching a series of candidates forums for November 7, 2017, Charleston area elections. The first LWVCA-sponsored forums take place:

  • Thursday, October 5, for Mt. Pleasant Mayor;
  • Wednesday, October 11, for Mt. Pleasant Town Council. Both forums are co-sponsored by the Thomasena Stokes Marshall Senior Center Association. They will begin at 10 AM at the Mt. Pleasant Senior Center, 840 Von Kolnitz Road, Mt. Pleasant. The purpose of the Candidates Forums is to give Mt. Pleasant voters an opportunity to hear candidates discuss the issues of importance to them in this election. All candidates on the ballot for Mayor and Town Council were invited to participate. The events are free and open to the public. They follow the League of Women Voters' nonpartisan, unbiased and impartial format. Candidates will answer written questions submitted by the audience. Before elections voters can enter their home address on VOTE411 to can learn about offices and ballot questions they will be voting on, and compare candidate responses to League questions. The last day to register to vote in an election on November 7 is Tuesday, October 7. The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan, issues-oriented organization of women and men.
