August 26th.
Sponsorships.
Girl Scout Contests.
The League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area (LWVCA) will be celebrating this year's Women's Equality Day, which marks the 90th anniversary of both the League of Women Voters and the ratification of the 19th Amendment that extended voting rights to women, with a special dinner event beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening, August 26, 2010, at the Town and Country Inn & Conference Center.
Inez Tenenbaum, Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and former SC Superintendent of Education, will be the keynote speaker. She'll be sharing her reflections through "A time to lead: Inspiring women to pursue public service." The League will also be honoring eight Elected Women of Distinction from the tri-county area, and introducing the winners of our Girl Scout Poster and Essay Contests.
The cost is $60 per person for this once-in-a-decade event. The money raised will support the League of Women Voters of the Charleston Area, which conducts numerous activities in the tri-county area to educate citizens on public policy issues and to encourage informed and active participation in government through voter registration and non-partisan candidate forums. We look forward to celebrating with you!
Note: We regret that we are not able to accommodate last-minute attendees, and as of the day before the event are not selling any more tickets.
You Can Sponsor This Celebration!
We invite local businesses to join us in celebrating this milestone of 90 years for the voting rights of women and for the grassroots organization that has worked since 1920 to improve our systems of government and impact public policies through citizen education and advocacy. Sponsorships are still available, and your support of this event will allow our Charleston Area League to further its goal of making democracy work for all citizens. All sponsors for this event will be recognized in the program and on an easel at the entrance to the dinner. Sponsors at the $1,000 Platinum level will also be given podium recognition and four tickets to the dinner. Gold level sponsors ($500) will receive two tickets, and Silver level ($250) contributors will receive one ticket. We will also provide a link to your website from the League's email invitations, reaching over 300 households in the tri-county area, and include a list of sponsors on our website and our Facebook page.
